Why Camp?

Why Outdoor ministries?

If you talk to people who have attended a camp or event at one of our outdoor ministry camping centers, you will get a different story for each person that you talk to. However, while their stories and camp locations may be different, their face when they are telling you the story will be the same. That glow that is seen from the smile of someone’s face is the love of Christ showing through, which is so powerfully felt at camp. Camp is agape, it is koinonia. Through bringing persons into very special places in God’s creation, often far off the beaten path, we seek to create a Christian community that is safe, open and welcoming to all. Each of our camps serve many different groups from children and teenagers, to senior citizens, families, persons with disabilities, persons seeking adventure, persons seeking retreat, persons seeking to learn more about the world around them and so much more. Each camp is a unique and special place.

In a world in which it is so easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle, our camps serve a vital importance as a place where people can come together to disconnect, fellowship and commune with God. While much of our ministry is devoted to providing week-long summer resident camps for children and teenagers, many of our camps offer many more programs and opportunities of varying lengths and for people of all ages.

When we feel sad, camp is there. When we feel joyful, camp is there. When we feel lonely, camp is there. When we feel disconnected, camp is there. Many things can try to disconnect us from Christ, but we know from Romans 8: 38-39 “None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.” Camp is here to remind you of that, to uplift you, to walk in your journey with you, and most importantly, to love you.
